LabX Workshop#23: Prototyping
30 June 2023
On June 6th was held at the AMA headquarters in Lisbon the Innovators Network LabX Workshop#23 about Prototyping and Experimentation. In addition to the usual focus on training the Innovators Network in methodologies and tools related to innovation, this Workshop was also meant to test the first prototype of what may become the “Automated Driving License Renewal (RACC)” service, through the ID.GOV application.
This Workshop focused on prototypes development and digital solutions was attended by 11 innovators from six different public entities (Municipality of Cascais, Municipality of Oeiras, Development & Cohesion Agency, Coimbra University, Health Activities General Inspection, and the Budget General Directorate).
Under discussion were the benefits of prototyping in the early stages of projects focused on digital solutions, types of prototypes (low and high fidelity) and the fundamental concepts for prototype testing with the final users, the types of tests, and the different types of user profiles and instruments that may be used.
A demonstration was also carried out on how to make a digital prototype using InVision. After the tests, and because there was an omnichannel approach to the service, since some users may not feel comfortable using the mobile app that was being tested, the groups were challenged to think about the service in alternative channels. They were also asked to write a postal notification and an SMS message, considering the limits of each of these forms of communication, as well as the adoption of good practices for clear, objective, and trustworthy language for the citizens.
Through this workshop, it was possible to collect feedback on the RACC planned service flow via ID.GOV and to gather inputs to consider when writing notifications. At the same time, it was possible to support public servants training and disseminate good practices regarding public services development and implementation.
